LOCAL EXPERIENCE AT SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE

Smith Mountain Lake has been an important part of my performance history for many years.

​

In 2019, I held a full-time, five-nights-a-week residency at Bernard's Landing, the lake's first piano bar. When COVID-19 changed those plans, we found a way to keep the relationship going, producing a series of virtual piano bar fundraisers to benefit The Landing Love Project and help meet immediate food needs in the community.

​

When the venue moved to Mariner's Landing, so did the show. I performed regularly at Bottles and Bites, and when weather moved things indoors, at Bruno's Clubhouse Bistro. I've also performed at numerous house parties and private events around the lake over the years.

​

That experience has meant entertaining a wide range of Smith Mountain Lake audiences and learning what works in everything from intimate gatherings and private lake parties to lively piano bar settings.

​

These are actual performances at Smith Mountain Lake—not simply venue names chosen for a location page. That familiarity with the lake and its unique event environment is something we bring to every show we produce there.

And there's one particularly memorable piece of that history worth mentioning: at one of those famous lake parties, I was gifted my first kazoo. That eventually led to the creation of the Smith Mountain Lake Kazoo Band, and I've brought a kazoo to every show since. It has become a guest favorite—and mine too.
